Restock: Engineered Garments x Tricker's - Handsewn Derby

The Engineered Garments x Tricker's Handsewn Derby is back in stock at Nepenthes New York. This spectacular shoe translates the American work shoe through British craftsmanship.

Tricker's is England's oldest established shoe manufacturer, best known for its quintessentially British heavy country shoes and brogues. Very little has changed in the company's 194-year history; it's still family-run and continues to make all its products in Northampton, the heart of British shoemaking. Each pair is benchmade by master shoemakers who harness skills passed down through generations.

Engineered Garments designer Daiki Suzuki has worked with Tricker's since the 1990s, paying numerous visits to their historic factory and teaming up for an extensive lineup of playful collaborations.

The Engineered Garments x Tricker's Handsewn Derby reflects Daiki's deep affection for footwear, merging elements of rugged American work boots and formal British shoes.

On its surface, this model appears to be a hardy work shoe, sporting a tan midsole, metallic eyelets, storm welting with white stitches, and a chunky white Vibram Morflex sole. However, upon closer inspection, the shoe is firmly a member of the Tricker's family, with delicate hand-stitching and supple leather uppers.

This unique design embodies Nepenthes' vision, creating something both American and British, formal and casual. Despite the juxtaposition, the shoe also channels its original intent for use as a tramping shoe, worn during hikes or hunts through the English countryside, adding yet another layer of nuance.

A truly unique example of shoemaking and design, the Engineered Garments x Tricker's Handsewn Derby is available in Black and Gold, in-store and online at nepenthesny.com.
