NEPENTHES SPECIAL: Engineered Garments Bontan Pant SS24

Introducing the Engineered Garments Spring/Summer 2024 Nepenthes Special: the Bontan Pant. This season, Nepenthes New York unveils the final piece of the collection, a wide-style pant inspired by mid-20th century Japanese school uniforms.

The Bontan Pant draws inspiration from the Bontan zubon, favored by rebellious students in the 1970s. These pants featured front pleats for extra volume, tapering sharply toward the hem, and students wore them as a symbol of defiance.

Engineered Garments' Bontan Pant modernizes this style with three pleats for more volume, a crisscross belt loop, a notched rear waist, and double-welted back pockets with a tuckable flap. Engineered Garments designer Daiki Suzuki created them with a high waist fit, offering a bold look that can easily be integrated into dressier outfits.

The EG SS24 Nepenthes Special Bontan Pant is available in various fabrics, including Khaki Cotton Iridescent, Multi Color Regimental Stripe, Natural Chino Twill, Olive Cotton Hemp Satin, and Red Cotton Ripstop. They are exclusively available in-store and online at nepenthesny.com.
