Nepenthes On Tour - Ep. 04: Winston in Tokyo
This installment of Nepenthes On Tour follows shop associate, Winston, as he voyages to Japan. This trip marked not only his first departure from the country since 2018 but also his inaugural visit to Japan, making it an incredibly exciting adventure. As Winston can attest, the splendor and grandiosity of Tokyo cannot be described in words; it must be experienced.
His action-packed week in Tokyo included meeting the Nepenthes Japan team and viewing the upcoming Needles FW24 season, which is poised to be another hit - building on crowd favorites while also reinterpreting core pieces. The showroom presentation and styling provided buyers with a great sense of the inspiration behind the collection and beautifully constructed the Needles world. Post work hours saw Winston taking on karaoke competitions, preceded by delightful dinners. Some culinary highlights included lamb dumplings, cow tongue, raw jellyfish, and curry katsu.
After shopping copiously, visiting the sword museum, trying Japanese McDonald's, and getting lost on the Tokyo trains, Winston concluded his trip by paying a visit to the deeply moving Meiji Jingu Shrine and enjoying a fantastic lunch at his friend's restaurant. Dining at a friend's family-owned business felt like the perfect ending to a fantastic trip. For those in Tokyo craving the best NY Pastrami sandwich in Japan, Freemen Shokudo comes highly recommended. The next destination is uncertain, but stay tuned for more adventures.
