Clarks' Desert Boot is renowned for its iconic silhouette, a staple in the footwear world. The original design was conceived by Nathan Clark, the great-grandson of founder James Clark, during his time stationed in Burma in World War II. He drew inspiration from British soldiers' unique shoes, based on the South African "veldskoen," or "field shoes." These simple, two-eyelet, ankle-cut boots, favored by soldiers in the Sahara for their lightness and comfort compared to standard British military boots, were initially crafted in Cairo's Khan el-Khalili bazaar. Since its introduction at the 1949 Chicago Shoe Fair, the Clarks Desert Boot has remained a beloved classic.

For this collaboration, Daiki chose the Desert Khan, a low-cut variant of the classic desert style, named after the Egyptian bazaar where the original desert boots were made. The shoe, crafted from supple suede leather, is a canvas for a series of unique details.

The asymmetric closure system, a hallmark of Engineered Garments, features D-rings on the left and blind eyelets on the right of each shoe, offering a look that can be either rugged or formal. The heel's nylon pull tab ensures easy wear, while the front of the shoes boasts kilties—leather pieces designed to protect the tongue from friction. Adorned with the Engineered Garments logo, these removable kilties add a distinctive touch to the shoe's character.

In a final twist, Daiki replaces the traditional crepe sole with a Vibram Morflex sole. Made from expanded EVA, Morflex is lightweight, flexible, and shock-absorbent, ensuring the Desert Khan EG is comfortable for everyday wear.

This collaboration perfectly encapsulates Clarks' timeless style with a dose of Daiki Suzuki's unique philosophy. Available in Sand Suede, Brown Suede, and Black Suede, the Engineered Garments x Clarks Desert Khan EG will be released in a wide range of sizes for both ladies and men.
