[SPECIAL RELEASE] ENGINEERED GARMENTS X SEBAGO - OVERLAP MID - RELEASING 10.23.21
The Engineered Garments x Sebago Overlap Mid
The overlap construction may be familiar to fans of Engineered Garments, as it continues the fabrication method seen on the collaborative Overlap Low model released earlier this year. Inspired by the lacing system on the Redwing 6 Inch boot, this unique design intrigued Engineered Garments’s designer Daiki Suzuki, spurring him craft his own version and place it on lower cut shoes.
This time, the choice of shoe is a Chukka, a silhouette originally manufactured for polo players, and titled after a ‘chukker’ or seven and a half minute period of the game. The typical crepe sole was introduced during World War II, for the British Army’s Western Desert Campaign - hence the name “desert boot”.
While staying faithful to the traditional shape of the shoe, like the mid-length cut just above the ankle, this special collaboration model has a few important modifications to note - namely the overlap, which hides the boot of the tongue, and provides a snug closure. Also worthy of mention is the removal of the crepe sole and replacement with a strong, stable Vibram sole that looks great.
As with the other Engineered Garments x Sebago items, this shoe is available in a range of materials - including wax suede, pony hair, and exotic python and crocodile stamped leather.
