In addition to its seasonal collections, SOUTH2 WEST8 collaborates with a host of diverse brands each year, including their recent capsule collection with Supreme®︎. This time, South2 West8 teamed up with Pendleton Woolen Mills, the historic Oregon wool manufacturer, for a series of specially made items that embody the brand’s authentic American quality and character.

Pendleton’s origins date back to 1863, when a young British-born textile craftsman, Thomas Kay, emigrated to Oregon, USA, in search of the best land for sheep breeding and wool production. The company's factory, which was opened by Mr. Kay - after working as chief manager of a woolen goods factory - grew dramatically under the management of his eldest daughter and grandchildren. The business has remained under family management for six generations - including for the launch of its apparel line in the 1920s - and has continued to define the American standard for more than 150 years.

Nepenthes is proud to introduce the South2 West8 x Pendleton 6 Pocket Classic Shirt. Part of the brand’s permanent collection, this intricate yet casual South2 West8 staple item never fails to impress with its laid-back camp collar and stylish 6 pockets laid out across the front. This special collaborative garment blends authentic plaid patterns with classic American design. The design patch and flap pockets pay homage to the iconic details found on Pendleton’s legendary wool “Board Shirt” (famously pictured on the album jacket of the Beach Boys’ “Surfer Girl” LP). Meanwhile, the boxy silhouette provides ample space for layered styling, either buttoned-up under a jacket, or over a thin knit as a shirt jacket.

Each shirt is crafted from all American-made fabrics woven under traditional methods. All of the material is made from high-quality virgin wool - the batch of wool from the first time a sheep is shorn. The result is a light, soft and comfortable fit that is unique to this textile. For the plaid, South2 West8 selected exquisite shades of ombre check based on a blue and black pattern discovered within Pendleton’s massive fabric archive.

This collaboration has been an ambition for South2 West8 since its inception, and the result is a timeless truly Pendleton Woolen Mills product - crafted with a signature South2 West8 twist.
